Finding a modern contemporary boutique style hotel in Hoi An beachside with a swimming pool isn’t easy at any price. Let alone in the heart of the action at An Bang beach.
There are of course resorts, but that wasn’t what I was looking for. I wanted some luxury, right in the “hub” of the main beach restaurant strip, but I didn’t want to pay resort prices.
So that left me with some very cool backpacker type options and Homestays, but they just weren’t doing it for me. Either too small in rooms size ( I like to spread out); no area around the hotel to chill; no pool; or no inhouse restaurant or reception.
But after much research and asking around….hoorah! I found that hidden gem.
Aira Boutique Hoi An Hotel & Spa had me at the “get go”. My initial greeting and welcome from the manager and reception staff immediately instilled confidence in my choice to stay here. Intelligent, English speaking and well versed in the protocols of our booking, we were warmly greeted and shown to our accommodation. I had that feeling of anxious excitement as we opened the door to our lovely spacious room. OMG, yes my hard work had paid off!
Aira Boutique Hoi An Hotel & Spa is one of those special hotels set behind the bush scrub of An Bang beach, a literal stone's throw away from some of the best beach bars and restaurants on the foreshore. The hotel has a very local feel to it with a grass hut cover over the outside restaurant and bar area making it feel very tropical. You can easily get to the beach via its own walking track.
The hotel boasts 2 pools one with a swim up bar, which is kind of fun, and at night with blue lighting, it was magical. We had arrived late and were exhausted so we settled into large well cushioned day beds close by to order some food and wine from their restaurant. Which I am happy to say was very tasty and reasonably priced.
The rooms are well laid out, about 30sqm being your average size, with a very modern bathroom and shower. Everything looks pretty new and was especially clean.
The hotel is unusual in that it is set in 2 blocks with the entrances to your room dependent on which block you are staying in. That was a bit crazy at first, but once we got the hang of the layout, it wasn’t a problem. Each block had it’s own pool with the main one playing host to the swim up bar.
The stand out for me was that you were only about 50 metres from Salt Pub, The Deck House, The Shore Club and my No1 favourite place, Soul Kitchen.
Breakfast is nice with all the usual favourites, including egg cooking station and plenty of fresh fruits. Under the cover of the thatched roof the setting in the garden conjured up that beach hut feel and atmosphere.

The contemporary style; location to beach, water sports and facilities makes it well suited for families and perfect for couples wanting to be close to late night bars and music.
