Cool Cam Pho Hotel

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

Why did this hotel come on to my radar in the first place? The answer is simple. I wanted a hotel in the Cam Pho region that had a pool and a gym. I wanted something opposite the river, down the Cam Pho bridge end of town and in easy walking distance from the Old Town. Less than 1km from the Japanese Bridge.

Laluna Hoi An Riverside Hotel @ Spa ticked all those boxes, plus some.

I love this end of town since my early days staying at La Residencia which is a hotel in Little Hoi An Group of hotels ( see seperate blog on this page. It's a quieter less chaotic area of town. The hotel is relatively new, about 2 years old, and has a very close family friendly style to it. The design is modern contemporary, but with a Hoianese flavour. Rooms either look over the river which I highly recommend, or over the pool, if that's what you would prefer. Just to be aware around 4 pm, as it is close to the river, if your room faces the river, they do suggest to close your balcony door to stop the midges getting in.

The staff are amazing. Friendly. All speak good English and the management seem to have a good way with keeping the place humming.

The rooms are a a great size, with their superior rooms ( our version of a standard room) starting at 34 Sqm, progressing up to a suite at 48sqm; which is large and gives you plenty of room to spread out. Their largest roof top room is 52 Sqm, so you can go bigger if you need to, and get a gorgeous view of the old town.

The beds are delightful, not too hard, just right!!

I'd say medium in firmness. The breakfast is super tasty. I mention this, as Ive stayed in so many hotels, some breakfast buffets look good in pictures, but are bland in taste and specialities. This is certainly NOT the case with Laluna. You can be sure to find all your regular favourites, and local specialties in plentiful supply.

The pool area becomes a very cool hangout with many guests enjoying happy hour and tasty snacks when the sun goes down. From the many times I have stayed here it does seem to attract a lot of westerners, which says it meets a lot of standards westerners prefer.

The food is really good so on many nights when I just wanted a night in, and a swim, it was a very comfortable setting to do so. And let's not forget that 'gym' that was one of my pre requisites. The gym is located in the basement of the hotel and while small is more than adequate for a short stay.

Directly out front, turn left and you walk in a straight line to the entry of the old town and the Cam Pho Bridge. This means, heading from that direction you can cross over and head to the Night Markets or continue straight ahead to the lantern Bridge.

The Cam Pho area is a very sort after part of town and a favourite location because of its easy access to everything, with minimal traffic. But there is not a lot of properties of this standard in the area.

There is a Seacombe Bank ATM on the corner of Dao Duy Tu & Cao Hong Lanh, which is always reliable, and good coffee close by. Again, another reason to stay here. Specially if you will be accessing the Old Town often checking out shops, tailors and restaurants. It allows you to be close to the buzz, without being actually in it.
